STEAM Activity Journal

A guided notebook to learn about Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math, create experiments, notes, drawings, and designs 

The STEAM Activity Journal includes the following topics:

• STEAM Careers – Provides examples followed by space to research and write about your own
• STEAM Role Models – Provides examples followed by space to research and write about your own
• STEAM Mantras – Explains mantras, lists examples and provides space to write your own
• STEAM Activity Ideas – Lists ideas for activities in each STEAM field followed by space to write your own
• STEAM Problems to Solve – Lists ideas for problems to solve in each STEAM field followed by space to write your own
• STEAM Activity Design, Test, and Reflect – Includes an explanation and example for how to create your own STEAM activity, followed by guided pages to create 10 STEAM activities.
• Notes, Drawings, and Designs Pages – Half the journal contains notes, drawings, and designs pages to let their imaginations take over and create anything they want!

I created printable pages for the activities on my blog so you can have them with you anytime and anywhere you are ready to do the activity. They are a streamlined version of the activities you see in the blog that get right to the point – with no ads or additional storytelling. The printables are a pdf download so you can view the pdf on your device and/or print it to reference while doing the activity.

The value bundles include introduction pages including: What is STEAM, What to Expect, Tips for Success, About Engineering Emily, and an Overview of the Activities included in the pack. 

The activities all have the following format:

• Title: a clear and concise title for the activity.
• Overview: a short description of the activity and the recommended age range.
• Materials: a list of a the materials required to complete the activity.
• Blog Post QR code: scan this code to be taken directly to the original blog post for the activity. In the blog post you will find step-by-step photos (and occasional videos), more detailed explanations around the STEAM concepts, and personal stories including my family’s experience with the activity. This is helpful if you like a visual reference.
• Safety: a brief overview of any safety issues to be aware of and prepared for before beginning the activity.
• Procedure: the step-by-step guide for how to complete the activity.
• STEAM Concepts Learned: a brief and easy to understand overview of the STEAM concepts that are being taught in each activity. This helps the adult understand what is happening, and can serve as a guide of what to explain to the child when they ask questions while as you complete the activity.
