Pick up a Ball with a Jar

$0.99

This is a great boredom buster STEM challenge for kids. Challenge elementary and middle school aged kids to get creative to think of how to pick up a ball using a jar. Eventually, you will teach them this STEM-based method to pick up the ball only using the jar. This activity is recommended for elementary and middle school aged kids, ages 5+.

This is a simple, but not easy STEM challenge for kids. All you need is a jar and a small, soft ball. Kids will use centrifugal force and Newton's First Law of motion to pick up the ball using only the jar! It's challenging, magical, and fun. Part of the fun of this activity is the failures. It will take many tries to get right, but you'll watch the ball fly around as you learn how to catch it in the jar.

Now you can have a pdf copy of the activity with you anytime, anywhere. You can view the pdf on your device and/or print the activity to have on hand to reference while doing the activity. The activity has the following format: an overview, materials, QR code to the blog post, safety information, procedure, and an explanation of STEAM concepts learned.

This is a pdf download. Once it's downloaded, you can save the pdf and view it on your phone, device or computer, and/or print the activity.
